Violence is pervasive in our nation. On this, the morning after what is now being called the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history, I am wondering why. Why is violence, both large scale like the violence last night in Las Vegas, and the smaller everyday occurrences of violence that happen all around us, a central part of our story?
